Dr Mtha works in the entrepreneurship space where he provides holistic business development services to particularly the SMME sector. Mtha also provides business turnaround and research services to the SMME, Corporate and Public sectors. During the last 20 years, Dr Mtha, has worked for different organisations in the positions of Accountant, Finance Manager and Project Manager for Local Economic Development. He has worked in collaboration with ProductivitySA and SEDA in identifying and turning around companies and co-operatives in various industry sectors since 2005. The businesses that have been turned around include construction, manufacturing and property management companies. Dr Mtha is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, the Davinci Institute for Technology Management and other reputable higher learning institutions.

Dr Mtha is the founder of Insedlu Business Companion and Director Insedlu Business Companion as well as Amanzi De Leau, a company that manufactures bottled spring water. His areas of specialisation include, financial management, research, asset management strategies, due diligence, feasibility studies, business plans for mega capital projects, process audit and re-engineering, production management systems design and implementation, and Kaizen 5S.
